The Rushmore Estate and wider Cranborne Chase AONB is a jewel in our countryside and we are fortunate to be situated within it. A number of public rights of way exist over the estate and these can be found via the following links, note that Rushmore straddles the border of Wiltshire and Dorset: Dorset Rights of Way: https://explorer.geowessex.com/ Wiltshire Rights of Way: https://wiltscouncil.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=43d5a86a545046b2b59fd7dd49d89d22 IMPORTANT INFORMATION TO WALKERS

  • The sheep at Rushmore can be susceptible to aborting or orphaning lambs if stressed. Therefore it is important that dogs are kept on the lead when near sheep and you always keep to rights of way.
  • Deer stalking is crucial to the success of our woodland management practices, which in turn provides habitat for a huge diversity of wildlife. Deer no longer have any natural predators and if left unchecked will over-populate causing woodland damage, crop damage, reduced deer welfare as competition for food increases, and an increase in deer-vehicle collisions. Stalking takes place on a daily basis during the season, between August and April and therefore in the interest of safety please stick to the rights of way.
  • Hazardous activities such as tree felling are carried out within woodlands and therefore it is important that rights of ways are adhered to.
