The Portman Horse Trials were started in 1976 by Susie and John Woodhouse on behalf of British Eventing. Having run over 4 different venues, the current event is held at Rushmore Park, inspired and supported by the Late William Gronow Davis MFH who sadly died at the end of 2015.
The event has been supported by many international and local riders including William Fox Pitt and Sam Griffiths and is still run by members of the Portman Hunt and the Portman Hunt Supporters Club. Adrian Ditcham has designed and built the cross country courses for the last few years which include Novice, BE 100 and BE90. The new courses run over lovely old turf in the magnificent setting of Rushmore Park, Tollard Royal, 20 miles west of Salisbury.
“Thank you so much for welcoming us to your wonderful events this year. It is such a privilege to ride on such beautiful countryside. We are so looking forward to next years events already. With very best wishes, Flora Harris.“
Sadly the Trials due to take place on 31st March & 1st April 2020 have been postponed and a new date will be arranged soon.
